A Group Of Stahrs

Our Family Life…All Together

Wednesday with Jamie

Jamie has always been our little Tom Boy.  She’s the perfect middle child.  She loves to play dress up with Mazie and become a beautiful princess but she likes to take that dress and play outside in the dirt with Jacob.

But lately she’s become quite girly.  Notice the hair tuck?  Yep, that’s all her…

I’ve been catching her checking herself out in the mirror to make sure her hair is perfect and smiling at herself in the window.  Really, it’s like she’s a teen!

She’s been talking about two boys in her class too.  Like she likes them…BOYS.

And when being teased about these two boys by her daddy, she gets this little pinking in her cheeks and has to hide her huge smile with her arms before finally laughing too!

There’s also the sass that’s started with this one.  And whoa, it’s hit us like a side of bricks too!

But no matter what, she’s still tom boy like and still loves to be simple and carefree like only a 6 year old can be.

I have a feeling something just won’t change with Jamie which is fine with this Mama!

Ten On Tuesday

1.  We have our last first ever Parent/Teacher conference.  Are you following me?  We are scheduled to meet with Jacob’s teachers for the first time this afternoon.  He’s the last one so it’s our last first conference.  I knew you would get it. 😉

2.  I am loving WordPress.  It’s actually easier than I was expecting it to be.  With the business blog, they imported all my old stuff!  What have you been thinking of the new blogs?

3.  I think October is busier than September was and we are only on the 5th.  Anyone else feel like that?

4.  Fall break starts on Friday.  Two weeks + all three kiddos at home = a ready for Fall break to be over Mama!

5.  No, really, I’m looking forward to some time with the kids.  Since it’s cooler lately, we can go to parks that we haven’t been to for a while, stay in our jammies if we want to, make a fort, lots of things to do!

6.  Have I mentioned that Fall is my favorite season?  It is and I’ll tell you why.  I love to run on the crispy mornings and the leaves change colors.  It makes it even more beautiful here.

7.  Well, normally.  For some reason, the leaves on our tree aren’t really changing colors.  They are just falling off.  I’ve noticed that on some others around our neighborhood too.

8.  The kids are working on Christmas lists.

9.  Did anyone see the big sale going on over at the business blog?  It’s big and lots of those goodies can be shipped.  I’m just sayin’.

10.  Tonight we are having Cooking Light’s Broccoli Cheese Soup.  What are you having?

Happy Tuesday!

Mazie Monday

Mazie has her mama’s ears.  I saw that the minute the doctors handed her to me in the hospital.  So wearing pony tails won’t be a big deal if she doesn’t mind the wind flapping the tops a little!  I am very sorry she inherited that feature from me…

But she does have a great smile.  It takes a little to get that “real” smile out of her when I am trying to take a picture.  But when it does come out, it’s just perfect!

She is super smart.  I know many of you know this already but she is constantly thinking of something to solve.  Her brain never rests!

I suppose that’s a good thing.  She is a sharp one!

She loves being a part of her robotics team at school.  The kids do everything from building to programming.  Last week she programmed her robot to put a bone back together.

Should I be worried?  Yeah, I thought so…

I love you, Mazie Moo.  Even if you can figure out what my computer is supposed to be doing and I can’t!

Belt Test

Saturday Mazie and I tested for our next belts in taekwondo.  I was so excited to see Mazie testing.  She had to know half of our total curriculum.  That’s a lot of stuff to know!  She did so well.

First her poomses (forms)…She had to do Tae Gooks 1-4 and Kyroogi poomse 3.

Then it was on to kyroogi formulas (1-12) and sparring (1-10) and self-defense (1-6)

She also had to know various steps.  Her board break was running jumping front snap kick!

She received her new bo dan II belt from Master Lee (of the Monument dojang) and was very pleased with herself!

Then it was my turn.  I was in the group to go last for our dojang.  After a little warmup it was time to get testing.  I did my poomse…

Kyroogi formulas and self-defense with my partner…

Even my flying side kick!  Thankfully that didn’t come out clear on the powershot.  It really wasn’t pretty.  Although I do get some height with that kick!  It was time to do my  board break.  I had to do a jumping roundhouse.

Jamie and Jacob listened during the test and were so good.  The only thing was that Jacob was getting tired at the end so Jeremiah couldn’t get a picture of me receiving my new red belt.  It was a good test!

The Pumpkin Patch

Today was Jamie’s field trip to The Pumpkin Patch.  Since Jeremiah doesn’t have class on Fridays and was able to take Jacob to his gym class, I was able to go along and chaperone.  It was lots of fun!

The kids were let loose to climb the haystack…

and go through the small hay bale maze…

and do a little pumpkin bowling…

and enjoy the fast slides…

As groups we went on the hay ride .  Another mom took this one of the two of us…

Then there was time to get some posed shots of Jamie being an ear of corn…

and with this cute little scare crow display…

We ate lunch on hay bales all together and then picked out pumpkins.   No, Jamie did not bring this one home.  They were told they had to carry their pumpkins all the way back to school.  She just wanted to pick this one up.  She did settle for a smaller one but it was just perfect for her!

The kids left to go back to school where they weighed and measured their pumpkins and I left the pumpkin patch for home.  I was happy to be able to spend the morning with Jamie!

Ten On Tuesday

1.  I started Christmas shopping last week!  I’m so excited.

2.  Sunday we went to Golden for A Day Out With Thomas.  The kids were so excited about going!

3.  I just like this picture.  All three of them insisted on cramming into the train!

4.  My favorite part was the displays.  The volunteers really work hard to keep all the trains in running condition.

5.  The kids were having so much fun, they obliged when I asked them to pose!

6.  I have been working on ideas for the cake I intent to decorate for the cake constest that I entered.  The contest is on October 23.  I will have 1 1/2 hours to decorate a tiered cake.  I am thinking of doing pumpkins and leaves in various colors for a Fall theme.

7.  Has anyone checked out the new business blog (stahrscakes.com) lately?  There are Elmo cupcakes over there that are pretty cute!  There will be an ad for some Fall treats coming by the end of the week!

8.  Mazie and I have been recommended to take our taekwondo test on Saturday.  Mazie will receive her Bo Dan II belt (which gives her two more tests until testing for her black belt!) and I will receive my Red belt.  Jamie’s curriculum is that she needs to skip this test.  But she will be cheering us on at the test!

9.  I’ve also started working on our Thanksgiving dinner menu.  Anyone joining us for our big meal?  You know I always make too much food.

10.  Friday, I am going with Jamie’s class to the Pumpkin Patch.  I’m so excited to be going.  It should be lots of fun!

Happy Tuesday!

Friday Five

1.  The board break-a-thon was a hit!  At the time of the event, our schools raised over $37,500!  Since then the total is above $43,000.  So thank you to those of you who helped us reach and surpass our goal!

2.  Mazie and Jamie did very well with their breaks…

3.  Jeremiah did take pictures of me but they were really blurry.  Can’t blame him since he was managing the boy during the event.  Not an easy thing to do these days!

4.  Jacob donated $5 to break a board.  He did it so fast that I couldn’t even snap a picture.  But the pride on his face says it all! Don’t you think?

5.  I made 3 dozen Elmo cupcakes today!  Someone ordered them for their daughter’s second birthday party.  I will post pictures on the new business blog…stahrscakes.com!  Check it out by clicking on the blog button on the sidebar!

Happy Friday!

Back To Blogging

Since I reached my limit on Blogger for the amount of pictures and things to post, I decided to go a different direction with blogging.  Instead of just starting a new blog, I decided to buy agroupofstahrs.com and go with wordpress.  So here we go…

On this first day of Fall, I’m going go back over the summer of some events that I didn’t get around to posting on the other site.  First Jeremiah hiked two fourteeners this summer.  Actually the hikes were in a week of each other!  So here are a few from Mount Massive

And Mount Harvard which Flat Stanley tagged along…

Also here are pictures from our visit with Viann and Vic.  It’s been six years since we saw Viann last.  It was nice to finally meet her husband.  Jacob was quite fond of Mr. Vic…

The girls took turns reading to Viann.  The funny thing was that the last time we saw Viann, Jamie was 2 months old!

So that’s it for today.  You can go back into the archives of the old blog if you like until I figure out what I am going to do with that one.
