Last Day of School

Since we’ve been out of school for a whole week, it seems like it’s time to post the first day/last day of school pictures.  I’m happy that it’s not the beginning of the next school year already.  A week is good!  Although we are starting to get bored.  It’s been nice outside so the kids have been having fun with their water trampoline but you can only be in the water for so long before that gets old.  Good thing we have a road trip planned for this week!

Mazie, the new high schooler, is so excited about 9th grade. I think it’s funny she is wearing the same color.  I’m not liking how mature she, seemingly all of a sudden, looks.

IMG_0042IMG_0005

Jamie, the new middle schooler, is also excited about 6th grade.  Again, too mature…

IMG_0036IMG_0002

Jacob, the new 3rd grader, can’t wait to see who his teacher is.  Don’t get me started on his comparison…

IMG_0027IMG_0008

The kids had a fabulous school year.  Here’s to a fun summer, not waking up too early, being exhausted from all the fun and sun, and simply relaxing for the summer (with a trip or two here and there).  Happy Summer Break!

Throw Back Thursday

Is it really a throw back if it happened last month?  Well, on this blog and for today, we’re going with it.  On this last full day of school for this school year, I figured I would play catch up before heading to school for a water balloon toss with my soon-to-be-sixth grader!

So Spring Break…It happened to fall right around Easter.  So we stayed home and had a wonderful weekend just the 5 of us.  We started the longer weekend with a silly thing called a half marathon.  If you’ve never run 13.1 miles or wanted to, you make be wondering “what were you thinking”…the answer is…I have absolutely no idea.  I just felt like it was time, found a training schedule on pinterest, talked Jeremiah into running with me, and here we are.  Our first half marathon is in the bag.  It was the hardest physical thing I have ever done aside from birthing babies.  I am proud to say I accomplished one.  I am happy for the experience.  I would like to do another to get a better time but I felt this way with all my races.  My first half marathon was a good experience.  I learned a lot about myself…I’m stronger than I thought…yes, I should listen to my husband a little more often ;-).  So here is our finish selfie…The race started at 36 degrees and was 52 when we finished.  So we were a little ripe…

IMG_0182

And our finisher medal.

IMG_1468

Funny story, we paid for these but not everyone did.  But everyone seemed to get one and since Jeremiah was running with me (instead of me running with him) there were not enough left for us to get ours.  So we waiting for them to come in the mail.  I may have sassed an innocent volunteer when he said they were out.  I may have told him that I just ran 13.1 miles and I wanted my finisher medal like a little brat.  He should have sassed back stating that we should have run faster but he was nice and explained that they would be shipped free of charge, of course.  So when it came in the mail, I may have proudly displayed it on my neck for the remainder of the day.  Maybe. 😉

After the race, we took the kids to Boondocks Family Fun Center.  Neither of us wanted to slug the rest of the day and not be able to move the rest of the weekend, so we figured some go carts racing and mini golf were in order…

IMG_0184

IMG_0186

Easter was, well, Easter.  Ham and all the fixings, eggs, candy, kids in heaven.

IMG_0027

IMG_0031

Every year, I do a fancy dessert.  I let the kids pick it out this year.  Thanks to Pinterest or Facebook (not sure where it came from now) they all agreed on Peanut Butter Cup lasagna.  Pudding, cool whip, peanut butter cups, nutter butters, peanut butter drizzle, and chocolate drizzle.  It was, to put it mildly, a huge hit.

IMG_0032

Mama’s Day:  I know this was only a few weeks ago but just go with it.  Anyone who knows me knows that I adore homemade things.  Especially made by my kids.  So to get handcrafted gifts from my kids is the ultimate special treat for me.  I got some pretty cool coupons from Mazie and Jacob and a cool banner from Jamie.

IMG_0028 IMG_0036 IMG_0081

Jeremiah found an interesting way to give me a gift this year.  He made me break a plate in the drive way…

IMG_0060

You see, if one more plate broke, I could get new plates.  And wouldn’t you know, no one would help me with that.  I mean, when I was pregnant, I broke things left and right but when I really wanted new plates I couldn’t break one more plate.  Not one.  So we went outside to smash my last plate.

IMG_0074Now I have enough for lots of people to eat off the same plates when they visit, not just the 5 of us and everyone else gets paper!  Thanks for giving me the greatest gifts ever, Jeremiah…the reason I’m a mama and can share this day with so many wonderful mothers…our three fantastic kids.  I’m one blessed mama!

Ten On Tuesday

1.  Mazie, Jamie, and I went to the Katy Perry concert last night.  My ears are still ringing.

2.  The girls had so much fun.  There were lights and costume changes and all their favorite songs.  My favorite part was watching the girls.

3.  I don’t think I embarrassed them too much.  Although I got quite a few eye rolls and “nice” comments when I was jammin’ to the music in between the acts.  I mean, who can sit still when DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince is playing?

4.  This weekend last year, we had a dusting of snow.  I’m hoping that the forecast for 70s will stay.

5.  Jeremiah was picked to be on the Materiel Leader candidate list.  If you are in or have been in the AF, you understand what that is.  Since I am not, I can not explain it but I do know it’s a big deal.  It was only a 30% chance to get on the list of 65 for 32 positions.  We will know sometime in December if he gets a position.

6.  Parent/Teacher conferences are next week.  I’m love hearing good things about my kids.

7.  Mazie has a college planning session with her counselor next week.  Can you believe that one?

8.  I start teaching the Junior Achievement classes to Jacob’s class tomorrow.  I’m so excited.  Jacob finally admitted tonight that he was too.

9.  Mazie wanted to bake a bunch of Fall treats for the school’s farmers market last week.  We were told 4 days before that we weren’t allowed to use our own kitchen unless it was commercial or the treats needed to be store-bought.  So I asked the chaplain across the street if the chapel’s kitchen might be of use and it was not.  So we went to The Sweet ToothFairy (who won on a Cupcake Wars episode) to see if we could get a discount on some goodies to sell.  They totally pulled through for us and donated over 150 cake bites!  Mazie was so happy.  At the farmer’s market she sold some.  But it wasn’t until we came home that she really made money.  She walked up and down the street with Jamie helping her selling what she had.  Thanks neighbors! You Rock!!

10.  Since I had already purchased the supplies we would need for all those Fall treats, I have to use them up.  So Mazie decided (thanks to a suggestion from Pop Pop) to have a bake sale this Friday.  She and her neighbor friend, Lizzy, will be selling the baked goods and using the profits toward their total they were trying to raise for the cancer hospital with their lemonade stands this summer.  They are at about $200 already.  They will be selling pumpkin whoopie pies, caramel apple cupcakes, applesauce cupcakes with maple buttercream, chocolate chip and sugar cookies, and brownies.  If you are around, check them out by the youth center and donate to charity!  I’m so proud of these two girls for doing this over the summer.

Happy Tuesday!

Ten On Tuesday

1.  On Friday when Jeremiah and I picked up the kids from school, Jacob got into the car and stated, “I can’t wait for Monday”.  It doesn’t matter if his reason was because the school just announced that all Mondays are now free dress, it was music to my ears!

2.  Tonight while going through our bedtime routine, Mazie asked if she could pick out her clothes after Jamie did instead of right away.  Normally whoever is taking a shower gets right into the shower and the other picks out clothes for the next day and gets ready to take her shower.  I asked why out of curiosity and Mazie said she didn’t want Jamie to see what she picked out and then copy her.  I told her that one day very soon she will miss that her little sister wants to be like her.

3.  We are thinking of letting Mazie go to a different school next year.  It’s a charter school for high school but they allow the kids to work on their associates degree while finishing high school.  It happens to be a STEM school also.  She has to go to the school for a year before applying for the degree program.  Opinions are welcome, of course.

4.  I found a yummy yogurt that is dairy, sugar, and grain free.  It’s by So Delicious and it is just that.  If you have had their ice cream, then you should try their yogurt.  Jacob asked me this weekend if he could taste my “Geek yogurt” after explaining that it is Greek yogurt and having a bit of a chuckle between us he tried it and loved it.

5.  Pinterest has been good to me with some yummy recipes.  I made some yummy homemade grain-free granola.  And everyone picks at it, including my picky pants husband!

6.  I had my routine check up at the dentist this week.  I told Jacob that I was cavity free and that my hygienist said I had no tartar and take very good care of my teeth.  He looked at me very seriously and said, “I’m so glad you are taking good care of your teeth.”  I couldn’t help but laugh. That kid cracks me up.

7.  Jamie had to apply for a job in her class.  All the kids had to apply for a job.  She chose to apply for Art Director.  She filled out an actual application and had to get 2 letters of recommendation.  She quickly asked Pop Pop to email something the night before he went on his big trip to Ireland (which he did, of course) and she asked the neighbor who is a second mom (between our houses either our kids are over there or their kids are over here).  Interviews were last week and Jamie got the job.  She was so proud of herself.  Of course, we were too.

8.  Jamie, Mazie, and I have our big girls night out coming soon.  I’m so excited.  More for the fact that it is still a surprise to the girls than the actual surprise.  Plus we get to have some girl time that we just don’t do often enough.  I have almost let it slip so many times but surprisingly have caught myself.  I’m really not great at keeping good things secret!  This is a new thing for me.

9.  Jamie joined the choir.  Her teacher happens to have organized it this year for the elementary students.  So when she came home with the paper giving the information about it, she was all for it.  One plus for the school that cut band and orchestra for this year.

10.  I love that Jeremiah can come home for lunch almost every day.  There are some days that fill up with meetings or whatever but for the most part he comes home, even if it is for a quick bite to eat.  Having his office only 5 minutes away is nice.

Happy Tuesday!

End Of Summer/Back To School 2014

So the kids were in Pennsylvania for almost 2 weeks this summer without us parents.  They were so excited about the whole trip.  Mostly because Jacob came up with the whole trip being named “Camp No Rules”.

Here are some pictures from Pop Pop’s camera of things they did in PA…

IMG_0016

IMG_0050

IMG_0059

IMG_0103

IMG_0187

IMG_0192

IMG_0032

Fun was had all over PA.  They went to Gettysburg, Knoeble’s amusement park, Hershey’s chocolate factory, Penns Cave, Color Me Mine.  They also had great fun with Stahr Mam and Pappy John but I haven’t gotten any pictures from that part.  They had fun seeing all the family and just hanging without us interfering.  Those pictures above are in no particular order.  Those were just the few I picked from a cd that had way too many to post.  I also have no pictures from their time with Gramma (what’s up with that, Mom?).

And this one is just ’cause I love my baby brother so, so much.  The picture was begging to be posted…

IMG_0023

While that doesn’t show their whole trip, just know they are still talking about being in Pennsylvania.  They really enjoyed their trip!

Pinterest has been fun for us this summer.  This is one of the activities I took pictures of.  We did the ivory soap experiment.  We put a bar of ivory soap (I’ve read this does not work with other bars of soap) on a plate and popped it in the microwave…

IMG_0002

Then we started the microwave for 2 minutes.  At 40 second down, the soap started to expand and continued for the rest of the time…

IMG_0020

When the time was up, we let it cool to touch.  The kids were surprised by the way it felt.  It looked fluffy and light but kind of crumbled to the touch.  It was smooth like soap should be and they could pack it back together but they couldn’t form anything other than solid shapes.

IMG_0022

It was pretty could to see.  Not really worth buying a pack of 8 bars to use one for this experiment but it’s soap.  It will be used up.  Plus the whole kitchen smelled of ivory soap for the rest of the day.

First day of school…Two weeks ago!  I can’t believe school has been in session for 2 weeks already.  The kids are loving this year so far.  After registering Mazie for 8th grade about 3 weeks ago, she was so ready to start school.  I can’t believe she is in her last year of middle school!

IMG_0042

After reading her bio on the school’s website, Jamie was so excited to meet her 5th grade teacher this year.  Plus she had just recently updated her eyeglasses so she was ready to show them off…

IMG_0036

Jacob was a little hesitant about starting 2nd grade until back to school night a few days before school started.  He met his teacher and quickly knew it was going to be a good year.  The fact that she happened to be pretty had nothing to do with it. 😉

IMG_0027

So looking at these pictures, I’m left wondering how my kids got so old.  It’s a mystery to me, really!

IMG_0032

Ok, that’s better.  Now I can claim these kids! 🙂

Jorden’s Freedom Wagon

I have a cousin named Jorden.  He’s a pretty cool little man.  He has Larsen’s syndrome which is a very rare genetic disease that affects his joints and connective tissue.  The van the family uses to get him to his activities recently caught on fire which means Jorden has no way to make it to his band practices.  Here is the article the local news posted on his situation…

Altoona Boy Needs a New Van to Get Around

So I asked his big sister, Brittany, if it would be ok to post the link for donations for a cool ride for Jorden on my blog to help.  I’m asking for you to donate anything you can for this family.   Every little bit helps and it would be such a shame if Jorden couldn’t continue to do his normal things.

Here is the link for their donation page.  I thank you in advance!

Ten on Whatever Day this Posts…

1.  I took Mazie to register for EIGHTH GRADE last week.  I’m still in denial.

2.  She was so excited until she saw that she was supposed to have Spanish II.  She never had Spanish I so we had to have her electives changed.  Now she doesn’t have Spanish at all but Art, Teacher’s Aide for study skills, and beginning guitar and none of her honors core classes changed.  She’s happy again.

3.  Last night was back to school night for the elementary.  Jacob and Jamie were very pleased with their new teachers.  Now they are super excited about starting tomorrow.

4.  Back to school tomorrow!  For a 2nd grader, a 5th grader, and an 8th grader…that makes us sound old!

5.  The kids and Jeremiah and I are running in the Color Run in Salt Lake City on Saturday.  It should be super fun!

6.  Jacob developed swimmers ear from being at the local water park last weekend.  It’s our first ear infection, surprisingly.  I hope it’s our last.

7.  Thunderstorms at bedtime could become nonexistent in my opinion.  For example, being beautiful all day long like today and then storming just as we are going to bed tonight is not funny.  I’m hoping that by the time I go to bed tonight it is all over.  To say that I’m not a fan of thunderstorms is an understatement.

8.  The part of going back to school that I like most is being able to go to the gym.  I didn’t do too badly this summer.  I ran regularly in the mornings with Jeremiah before work and did things here at home but it’s different going to the gym.  I need to get back into my routine with weights.  Anyone out there with me on that one?

9.  We are hoping someone rents out our Colorado Springs house soon.  We’ve had lots of traffic but no takers for that last 2 weeks.  If you know of anyone interested in a 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, 2 story with a basement house for rent, send them our way, please.

10.  Ok, so I lied.  There are only 9 things.  My brain doesn’t have room for a tenth thing this week since I couldn’t even get it on the right day.  So happy whatever day this posts! 😉

Ten On Tuesday

1.  So I got the pictures from Jeremiah’s promotion ceremony at the end of April.  I was not too happy with the pictures.  We are all out of focus.  The guy taking the pictures must have bumped the camera and it focused on the cake.  I’m happy about it being focused on the cake but that wasn’t the important part.

2.  Here you go..

IMG_8889

IMG_8893

IMG_8894

3.  This is the one I am most disappointed in.  I hate being in pictures and this one would have been a good one had we been in focus.  I should have just set up my own camera and used my remote.

IMG_8896

4.  Stating the oath…

IMG_8898

 5.  Giving out gifts.  He gave my dad and Jacob coins (and made Jacob promise to not put it in his mouth) and gave the girls and me lovely flower arrangements.

IMG_8905

6.  It really was a lovely ceremony.  The cake was a hit.  I was pleased with how it turned out.

IMG_0002

7.  The pictures from our dining out turned out much better.  Apparently the person snapping pictures knew how to use the camera.  This one was from Mazie using my camera in front of our garage…

IMG_0027

(good picture-taking skills from my 12-year-old, dontyathink?  Maybe I should have had her take the ceremony pictures)

8.  This couple lives across the street from us.  And if that wasn’t lucky enough for them, he happens to have the pleasure of working with Jeremiah.  He is really the coolest captain out there.  She throws mad birthday parties and has the best laugh.  They have really awesome kids too.  It’s always a fun night if they are around!

IMG_5730

9.  We were able to get a good one of us just before Jeremiah thought it was funny to photobomb.

IMG_5734

IMG_5773

The funny thing about this picture is that they had no idea he was there until the guy taking the picture showed them on the viewfinder.  It’s priceless.

10.  So that should sum up the last of the lagging I’ve been doing.  Summer break is well into its third week and we’ve been hanging around doing odds and ends here and there.  A day trip to Lagoon, going to the splash pad, reading, riding bikes/scooters/skates.  Just having fun.  We are gearing up for our big vacation around here and trying to stay calm about it.  To say we are all a bit excited is an understatement.  The kids have 2 weeks from tomorrow before their big trip to Camp No Rules, as Jacob is referring to it.  We have 2 weeks from Friday before heading to our trip to Jamaica.

Happy Tuesday!

Big Round Up

Hi, my name is Megan.  I’m an avid procrastinator of this blog.  Sorry for the absence to anyone who actually reads this thing.  I actually have a really good excuse for some of the procrastination.  I’ve been waiting on the pictures from Jeremiah’s promotion ceremony to be downloaded from his office’s camera and they just keep lending out the camera before it gets done.  So we will skip it and return with that when I get those pictures.

1.  Anyway,  Jamie’s actual birthday was fun.  She was overwhelmed with all the gifts and love from our family around the country.  She felt very blessed to have so many people think of her on her big day.  So now (over a month later) she’s a whole decade old but nothing has changed otherwise.  She’s still a sweet, sensitive, caring young lady who thinks of others *usually* before herself.

IMG_0008

IMG_0014

2.  Pop Pop visited for a couple of weeks.  He was here for all the big festivities…Jamie’s big 10, Jeremiah’s promotion, support while I was baking like a crazy woman for the whole thing, etc.  Seriously he planned his trip perfectly and I was able to keep what sanity I have because he helped me so.  As a treat, we took him to the Hogle Zoo, our first time there too.

IMG_0018

We were a bit disappointed that the giraffes were unable to be viewed since the exhibit was being renovated but we will go back to see it once it’s open.  We were happy to see the primates, however.  I mean, really, the kids like seeing their own kind 😉

IMG_0022

IMG_0025

3.  Mother’s Day weekend was super fun for us.  We drove all the way to California!  As soon as we left Utah, Arizona was amazing and the view was breathtaking.  It took us about 10 hours to Anaheim and we were so happy to be out of the car!

After a good night’s sleep, we headed to the one place we’ve missed almost as much as our friend…Disneyland and California Adventure, of course. IMG_0001

IMG_0002

After waiting in line to wait in line (Jeremiah waited in the fast pass line for the new Cars ride just so we could wait in the shorter line for the actual ride), we headed for a few rides in California Adventure (and I snapped pictures).

IMG_0005

IMG_0003

Radiator Springs was simply amazing.  Like just out of the Cars movie, amazing.  The Disney peeps really pulled it out for this renovation.  It was something to see.  And the ride we waited in line to wait in the shorter line was worth the wait.  Even I rode the ride!

IMG_0020

IMG_0021

IMG_0009

IMG_0014

After a quick lunch and our fill of California Adventure, we headed over to Disneyland.  This place holds so many memories for us.  Like the first time Mazie met Cinderella and she walked Mazie across the park.  Or the time Jamie told Winnie the Pooh that she was potty trained.  We couldn’t possibly skip it while in California.  So we picked a few of our favorite Disney things and crammed them into the afternoon and were pretty satisfied with our Disney experience by the end of the day.  The girls insisted on Autopia for one of our must dos.  Mazie was tall enough to ride by herself (not well but still by herself).  On a side note, it’s a good thing we have 4 years until she is able to actually drive for real.

IMG_0022

And Jamie was able to drive if I pressed the pedal.  Fine with me because I could stop us, if needed…

IMG_0024

Then I decided to just enjoy walking around with my family and taking in all the things at Disneyland.  I did take a few pictures of the parade which is always a must when we are there…

IMG_0048

After getting dinner in Downtown Disney, we headed back to the hotel and passed out.  The next day, we played in the pool at the hotel and did homework that was due when we returned home, just relaxed.  The kids were in a wedding this weekend so we went to the rehearsal.  We found out then that Jacob was actually carrying the real wedding rings on his pillow.  So I had to tell him we was really the most important person (besides the bride and groom, of course) and he had to be so so careful with his pillow.  We were so worried about that part that we may have forgotten to tell the kids that they were going to have to stand for the whole ceremony.  Luckily, the bride and groom kept the ceremony short and sweet (like ours 15 years ago!) that they didn’t seem to notice!  But more on the wedding in a minute…

4.  We got up early one morning to make the 45 minute trek to Redondo Beach to meet up with the Laughreys, the Pikes, and the Shertzers for breakfast.  It was so great to see everyone and catch up (as much catching up as you can do in an hour).  We are a good lookin’ bunch, donchathink? (This picture is minus Wally who was snapping the picture and Cory-I’m not sure where he happened to disappear to).

photo

5.  Now onto the wedding.  So we drove back to Anaheim with just enough time to get ready (girls needed hair curled) and head to the church.  Jacob was so handsome in his little suit and was so proud to be wearing it.  He was honored when they asked if he would “be in charge of the rings”.  He did such a great job.IMG_0058

IMG_0062

my handsome men 🙂

and one with me and my little man

IMG_0063

The girls were beautiful, of course, in their matching dresses and with pretty bouquets.  They, too, were honored when Erin and Tony asked if they would be in the wedding.  They walked behind Jacob down the aisle to the altar and Jacob escorted Jamie back down the aisle at the end of the ceremony.

photo 2 (1)

These were taken after the ceremony while we were waiting on the bride and groom to make their getaway.

IMG_0065

IMG_0071

IMG_0067

We made our way to the reception and the kids were so excited that they did so well.  They were proud of themselves but not prouder than I was.  I think every person at the ceremony came up to complement us on the kids.  It was nice to hear.

The bridal party was introduced with a little bio.  The kids were first and I was a little late catching all of Mazie’s bio.  But Jamie’s bio and Jacob’s bio were in full.  They were all well done and the kids loved it!  Congratulations Tony and Erin! We wish you many, many years of wedding bliss!!

6.  So we get up super early the next day to drive all the way back to Utah.  It was depressing.  We had such a beautiful scenic drive until we got to Utah.  The Valley of Doom and Gloom.  Seriously.  It literally was snowing many inches of snow.  On Mother’s Day.  We had to slow to a crawl and sometimes a stop on the pass.  There were many accidents and, of course, everyone had to pee and no rest stops in sight.  When we were able to stop at a rest stop (in flip-flops in snow), we overheard a trucker tell someone on his phone that he wasn’t going to make his delivery because they closed the pass.  Thank Goodness we left when we did and did not get stuck there.  We were able to make it home (an extra 1 1/2 hours of driving).  This was my mother’s day…

photo (1)

I’m one blessed Mama with these three in my life (and, of course, my wonderful husband who made it possible for me to be called Mom).

7.  So being back in Utah with three weeks left of the school year, the weeks went fast.  All of a sudden, the kids had field trips and field day and projects due and all the end of the year festivities.  Mazie had one final band concert (at least at this school).  I am so impressed with these kids.  The band teacher is kind of flaky and they had to kind of pick it up on their own.  They worked hard and it showed.

IMG_0001

Mazie has officially started private lessons with a teacher close to the base.  When she had a trial lesson last week, I was taken back by how much the instructor reminded me of my old elementary band teacher, Mr. Bowman.  Anyone remember him?  He was crazy and awesome and everything a band teacher should be.  He set the standard for what we were to expect from our instructors.  Our high school band teacher fit the bill as well.  We were blessed to have great instructors and I can’t wait to hear her improvement over the next few weeks.  Mazie is super excited about this instructor as they have similar personalities.  Being excited about music warms my heart!

8.  So the end of the year just showed up whether we were ready for it or not.  The last day of school pictures…

IMG_0015

IMG_0018

IMG_0014

IMG_0025

IMG_0021

So with that we now have a 2nd, 5th, and 8th grader in the house.  *sigh*  You can see the first day of school here.

That’s that for now.  Hopefully, sometime soon, I can get the pictures from Jeremiah’s promotion and put them up here for all to see.  And maybe I can see if there were any photos taken of us at the dining out last week.  Who knows?  Maybe I will actually start blogging regularly.  It’s possible, not likely, but possible. 😉

Ten on Tuesday

1.  Easter was pretty laid back here.  Pretty uneventful which is just the way we like it.  The kids searched for eggs…in their jammies…

IMG_0010

 IMG_0011

IMG_0013

2.  That’s just how we egg-rolled this year.  (sorry, I couldn’t resist)

3.  Pop Pop arrived and it’s been non-stop since.  If you are friends with me on facebook or follow me on twitter, you know there was a lot going on this weekend.

4.  Jamie’s birthday party was this weekend.  We celebrated her 10th (*sigh*) birthday at Color Me Mine in Ogden.  We had a grand time.  The one serious picture I took and Jamie’s eyes were closed…

IMG_0033

so we took a silly one too…

IMG_0036

5.  The kids colored their pieces and then they were sent to the back to get glazed and baked.  Then they enjoyed birthday cake with Olaf on top…

IMG_0032

6.  I’m still at a loss because tonight, on her birthday eve, I have no idea how this…

Jamie Bo

and this…

and this…

IMG_0019_edited-2

turn into this…

IMG_0039

7.  Jamie and Jeremiah went on their annual date too.  They went to see Rio 2 (which Jamie highly recommends) and to eat at Olive Garden.  She told us when she arrived home that there was no way she was going to fit into her wedding dress next week if she didn’t stop eating!

8.  Today was a fun day for our family.  The kids stayed home from school so they wouldn’t be late for Jeremiah’s promotion ceremony.  Since his promotion to Lt. Col is official May 1, he just couldn’t take away from Jamie’s birthday tomorrow so he decided to take off tomorrow and do the ceremony today.  The kids loved putting on his new rank and were so proud of dad.  Pictures to come since I didn’t pick up my camera during the ceremony.   Hopefully the photographer there got some good ones.

9.  So tomorrow we have 2 tweens in the house and a newly promoted Lt. Col.  Big changes going on around here.

10.  That is all for now.  I have to update the Stahrs Cakes blog and hope to do it soon.  Stay tuned!

Happy Tuesday!
